Cervical Cancer Treatment
Many women have no idea that they even have cervical cancer. Want to know why? Because this form of cancer does not generally give off any forms of symptoms until the cancer has actually progressed. There are several different types of symptoms that women can have when the symptoms begin to appear. This symptoms can include such things as: Bleeding between your menstrual cycles, bleeding after menopause, bleeding after urination and bleeding after sexual intercourse. Other symptoms can also include: Abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain and unusual heavy discharge. Now if it has been determined that your pain and discomfort is being caused by cervical cancer, there are many different types of cervical cancer treatment available for you.
There are three different types of cervical cancer treatment that are used. The first one is Surgery. The different types of surgery can be either a: conization ? this procedure removes tissue from your cervix, this is done so a pathologist can look for cancer cells then determine best treatment. Another form of surgery is a Total hysterectomy ? this form of surgery will remove your uterus and cervix, this surgery will leave you unable to bare another children. Another form of hysterectomy also known as the Radical Hysterectomy ? this surgery will remove your uterus, cervix, your ovaries and fallopian tubes may also be removed. Bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy ? this form of surgery will remove both the ovaries and fallopian tubes.
Another form of treatment can also be Radiation which uses high-energy X-rays or other types of radiation to help kill the cancer cells and prevent them from re-growing. The last form is Chemotherapy which uses drugs to end the growth of cancer cells. The cells may either be killed or it will prevent them from dividing. It is also believed that there are many different factor's that can give you a higher risk of acquiring this form of cancer. These factor's can include such things as: Smoking, a weak immune system, multiple sexual partner's, early sexual activity or other forms of sexually transmitted diseases.
In the last 40 years the death rate of cervical cancer has dropped drastically. The reason for this is actually due to pap screening's. However it's still estimated that around 4,000 women still sec um to this form of cancer every year in the United States. If at anytime you have any of the symptoms that we're mentioned earlier, it will be in your best interest to get in touch with your doctor to determine if this form of cancer is what's causing your pains and discomforts.
